Year 26 (2024)

Plots & Site Events
	The 12th Annual Neopies returned this year with voting in 21 categories, along with the NC VIP Raffle. Prizes awarded for voting this year included: Magical MSP Poogle Plushie, Valentine Paint Brush, Marble Draik Egg, and Magical Potato and Sroom Chia Pops!
	On April Fools Day, pets appeared sad and a masked man called Smile Withme appeared in a pop-up. They had placed motivational posters throughout the site in an attempt to cheer everyone up. You could ‘x’ out of these pop-ups and eventually would be offered an ‘opportunity’ to sign a contract after which posters became… disturbing. Eventually after continuing to ‘x’ out of pop-ups, users were awarded an avatar and a wearable mask. Playing with the mask after recieving the avatar revealed Smile Withme’s true identity…. Chadley! 	Users were greeted with a grey Kari at the start of the Festival of Neggs suffering an “unknown grey curse” causing her to wing the Festival this year. She was soon joined by Orion, who asked users to report any ‘strange sightings’ in a side quest. After 8 days of users finding pieces of a petpet across the site, Orion announced the discovery of a new petpet – the Tuffala! Users who participated in the side quests were rewarded the new petpet, a Lava Musical Cylinder, and trophy! Participation in the Festival of Neggs awarded users an avatar, Grey Kari Charm, Rotten Negg Snowglobe, Grey Negg, Spa Negg, Glitch Negg, Plushie Negg, and Time Travel Negg. Finding all the neggs on the same day awarded an additional Grey Neggery Background!
	Shopkeepers (and dailies) started turning grey on 18 Mar, beginning with Ellia in Uni’s Clothing… a sign of the newest plot The Void Within which started 17 Jun! The plot has so far included hunting for void essence in various lands, battling Voidlings in the battledome, volunteering for hospital shifts, running quests for Tavi, and playing new games: Dr. Landelbrot’s Voidworks and Cosy Campfire Collection! Additionally, Orion hosted a series of side quests available to users who joined a team for Altador Cup XIX as well as during the Faerie Festival rewarding updated versions of Orion’s Prophecy Trophy!
	Altador Cup started with updates across the board on 31 July this year: notably new game point values (YYB now worth 14 points, SS worth 10, MSN/SSD worth 3 points), reduced max # of games per day (YYB now 29 games, SS 53 games, MSN/SSD 242 games), new rank thresholds (75% of prior years!), and an added extra bye day for the addition of Team Dacardia. This year had a few issues (including the cup initially ending before the 31st). The winners this year was Kreludor!! Brightvale came in second place, with Tyrannia finishing in third. There was huge drama when the AC XIX Commemorative Stamp was added to the prize shop multiple days after it opened – but TNT corrected this by handing out 2,800 additional points to all participants in the event so users who had already spent their points could nab it!
	The Faerie Festival returned again this year and ran from 23 September to 09 October. The festival hosted free daily faerie quests (exclusively from the Battle Faerie, Fyora, and Fountain Faerie – as well as Seshatia the Library Faerie who stepped in for the Grey Faerie) and prizes for visiting the faerie quest page daily! Similar to last year, Illusen and Jhudora hosted a donation event starting on 01 October; users were able to again sign up for a side and then donate 30 items a day to recieve prize capsules awarding an r90+ item. Participating in the event awarded prize points which could be spent in the respective Prize Shop. Participating users in the donation event who visited the faerie quest page daily were awarded the Illusen vs Jhudora avatar (previously released in 2023; for those who had already earned the avatar, they were awarded Shreegla VI directly into their inventory). Final prizes for each team were the same as last years and Illusen’s team ultimately won again this year.
	This years Trick-or-Treating event ran from 25 October to 31 October with the release of 7 new Trick-or-Treating Bags! Along with each bag there was spooky story strate from Reginald of Neovia’s personal collection! These bags featured some amazing prizes this year including the Count Von Roo Stamp, Misprint Meuka Stamp, and Halloween Paint Brush & Petpet Paint Brush!

Site Updates
	The NC Mall rolled out purchasable UC Neopets on 23 Jan with the release of three Alt Styles – Faerie, Grey, and Darigan. Users are able to purchase Styling Studio Supplies (which gives a random alt style to your neopet) or Deluxe Styling Supplies (which allows you to select from currently available alt styles). Supplies are able to be redeemed at the Styling Studio, where the new Alt Style can be applied to your pets!
	With the update, all previously exisiting UC Neopets underwent an artwork update to the new “modernized” Alt Styles. Owners of UC pets were awarded a Nostalgic Neopet Item so that their UC style could be retained.
	NeoPass was launched in March 2024. NeoPass is a new single sign in feature that will allow users to link all Neopets games under one account; it also allows side accounts to be linked to your main account (for easier transitions between accounts)!
	TNT published a press release reporting a “website cleanse” (aka purge) would be held in October 2024, with removal of accounts that have been inactive over 10 years!
	TNT published BIG bug fixes in March: Neopets will now no longer refuse certain items. This means books and toys are no longer boring, foods and grooming items are no longer yucky, and petpets won’t refuse to attach!
	Punchbag Sid (Punchbag Bob’s brother, who you’ll recognize as wearing an eyepatch) returned to the Battledome for the first time in at least 10 years! This allowed users to be awarded the ‘Punchbag’ avatar again – awarded to those who lose to Punchbag Sid in the BD. Keep your eyes peeled for possible future appearances!
	The Neopian Times released its 1,000th Issue this year! Users recieved a site theme (automatically unlocked for all users) as well as a new avatar to commemorate the event!
	TNT updated the payment system at the Mystery Island Training School – users can now cancel courses any number of times per day (to re-roll which codestones are required). This update only applys to Mystery Island – there is still a 24-hour cooldown on course cancellation at the Secret Ninja Training School.
	The Premium Scratch Card prize pool was updated this year to include multiple new items including Fashionable Space Faerie Usuki Doll, How to be the Space Faerie Book, and Space Faerie Wig. It also includes previously released items such as the Inverted Space Faerie Stamp, Space Faerie Doll, Space Faerie Mushroom, and Space Faerie Snowglobe.
	TNT silently deleted older Neomail from user’s inboxes in September this year. Previously, all Neomail was deleted after 90 days – but this function broke in 2014 (with the transition to Jumpstart) and users were shocked to find years-old (and sometimes less than 90 days old) neomails missing from their inboxes.
	A new stamp album was released this year: Faerieland II! The first stamp for this album is the Jhudora Stamp, which is r88.
	A new stamp album was released this year: Grey! The first stamp for this album is the Nostalgic Grey Draik Stamp, released during the Festival of Neggs
	A new stamp album was released this year: Plushies! No stamp has yet been released for this album.
	A new stamp album was released this year: Other V! The first stamp for this album is the Council of Leaders Stamp, released during the Void Within plot
	The Caption Contest scoring system was revamped this year – now users winning 1st-5th place recieve 10,000np, a gold trophy, and the Hilarious Avatar; users winning 6th-12th place win 5,000np, a silver trophy, and the Hilarious Avatar; and users winning 13th-25th place recieve 5,000np + bronze trophy. Previously the Hilarious Avatar was only awarded to the top 5 winners in every non-10th round of the caption contest – meaning now you have better odds of recieving this avatar!
	Animated Neopet images made their return to Pet Lookups in January of this year!
	Neopets awarded pets born prior to April 26, 2007 (Y9) with a ‘old pet’ trophy displayed on the pet’s lookup!
	Trudy’s suprise added Bloat B Gone to the prize pool; this was previously an r101 item released to users for completing Daily Dare in 2011. Neopians rejoiced as this has been inflated since October 2023 (when it was updated to have the effect of de-bloating neopets)!
	The 25th Anniversary Premium Goodie Bag was released to Premium Users in August, September, and October. Opening this goodie bag granted users with 1 item (ranging in value from 500k to 90M). Though labeled as “No Trade” this item was able to be traded on the TP from release until 13 August.

New Creations
	The beautiful Maraquan Gnorbu (jellyfish-style), inspired by the artwork of u/narutoluvr935, was released this year!
	The absolutely adorable sunflowery Oil Paint Bori was released this year, inspired by the artwork of u/wolfycries104!
	With the release of UCs in the NC mall came the release of the Styling Studio and a new character: Umbra!
	For Chia Day, a new Magical Chia Pop (Banana) and corresponding colour were released!
	TNT released the first restockable Morphing Potion since 2019 (it’s been 5 years ya’ll) – the Zombie Mynci Morphing Potion!! Later in the year more MPs were released including the Pastel Cybunny and Woodland Eyrie Morphing Potions.
	The Neopian Pharmacy released new inclusivity items this year including the Biped Wheelchair and Quadruped Wheelchair!!! Other items released this year included a white cane (for baby, mutant, and maraquan pets), fidget toy wearables, insulin pumps, CGM patches, and more service petpets!
	The Tuffala is a new petpet species introduced during the Festival of Neggs this year!
	In celebration of Pride Month, TNT released the Rainbow emoticon for the Neoboards!
	TNT released the Retired Hidden Tower Treasure capsule at the Hidden Tower. Opening this capsule awards users 1 retired Hidden Tower item! Initially this was priced at 10 million neopoints – which was revealed to be a typo by TNT. The price was increased to 50 million a few weeks later. Opening five of these capsules awards users the HT- Elite avatar.
	The Hidden Tower also released a few new items this year including Obsidian Scorchstone (heals 100%), Dacardite Scorchstone (heals 70 HP), and the Kooky Myriad Maker (which transforms into a random current HT item with a value of 5m or greater).
	The Hidden Tower also released some older items that were previously exclusively used by 1-Player Battledome challengers – the Snowager Pendant and Mayors Top Hat.
	The So Mini Baby Colours Mystery Capsule was released in the NC mall this year – allowing users to change their baby pets base colour to pink, yellow, green, blue, or purple!
	Another new addition was made to the NC Mall this year – Deluxe & Super Deluxe Backgrounds, much to the chargain of users. These backgrounds are for sale at an increased price (300-500 NC) and offer increased animations compared to other NC backgrounds.
	The Usuki Doll Mystery Capsule was released in the NC Mall – when opened, it grants a Usuki wearable which can be applied to your pet to customize them to look like one of the Usuki dolls on the site (similar to Pet Styles, but without having to use the Styling Studio)!
	The Styling Studio Prismatic Brush was released in October. This Brush when applied at the Styling Studio turns your pet into a random pastel-coloured re-clour of the NC Faerie style (either cyan, pink, or purple)!
	For the first time since 2018, TNT released a new Fortune Cookie in the NC mall: the Deluxe Training Fortune Cookie. This cookie when opened grants users with 10 days of reduced training time at Neopian training schools (compared to the regular Training Fortune Cookie which grants 5 days!)
	Another Fortune Cookie was released this year: the Plot Points Fortune Cookie. This cookie grants users 2X (up to 3X) plot points for the Void Within plot for a week. This cookie DOES NOT increase caps/limits on Plot Points earned for the day however.

Off-Site / Neocash Updates & News
	TNT launched the Fan Art Program this year, which allowed authorized artists to showcase their work and shops (so they can earn comission from their Neopets-based digital artwork finally)! TNT reportedly will NOT be taking a cut of the sales through the program. Read more here.
	Weekend sales returned to the NC Mall this year – with the first sale featuring 50% off clothing in conjunction with the release of 3 new clothing items.
	In celebration of Valentine’s Season, TNT had HUGE giveaways across all social media with prizes of: Andrews McMeel Tarot Card Deck, Valentine PB and Valentine PPPB, WYP Lanyard and Valentine Pins, 5,000NC, and Mystical Rosette Dress!
	TNT released the Neopets Official Tarot Deck on 27 February this year, published by Andrews McMeel – featuring 78 cards with a Faerieland theme. Prior to this, Geekify offered an Officially Licensed Tarot deck with a theme of Neopian heroes, villains, and inhabitants.
	TNT Ivy (who previously co-hosed Nosy Neopians with Willow) announced she would be leaving Neopets in May of this year to further her career. While she will be very missed, we wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
	The Omelette Faerie – the first in a series of graphic novels to be released by TNT – was officially released on 13 August 2024. This graphic novel tells the story of how we almost lost the Giant Omelette forever, and is an epic fantastical journey!
	Upper Deck released a Neopets Battledome Trading Card Game (NBTCG) for Neopets – featuring two starter decks: Starry and Fire, with Defenders of Neopia booster boxes. Redeeming codes from the starter boxes awarded users with avatars! The NBTCG features 250 unique cards and includes dice!
	For the first time ever, TNT asked for input on a new avatar – allowing users to vote over Social Media sites for the visuals, shape, and text! Alongside of this, clues were posted on how to redeem this avatar, with Puzzle Hunters figuring it out quickly. Submitting the code ‘TIME4SOC14L1SING’ at Grundo’s Warehouse awarded this avatar until 15 June 2024.
	In celebration of the release of the Void Within plot, TNT hosted a 150,000NC giveaway (with 10 winners winning 7,500NC, 15 winners recieving 3,000NC, and 25 winners winning 1,200NC)!
	TNT announced plans for a 25 Birthday Bash Celebration (to be hosted in ideally in November this year) with 25 user meet-ups in 25 major cities around the world. These events would be hosted by members of the community, with support from TNT including a party pack and swag! They plan to reward hosts with exclusive perks.
	TNT launched their app Neopets: Tales of Dacardia in Canada in April, with world-wide release in June of this year. This is relaunch/reboot of a prior app, Island Builders, which retired in 2023.
	With the launch of Neopets: Tales of Dacardia, TNT awarded beta testers (who tested the reboot from Oct 2023 – Mar 2024) with the Tales of Dacardia Lania Avatar and the Rebuilding Dacardia Stamp (previously a prize for 2020 Charity Corner)
	Neopets: Tales of Dacardia hosted an in-app event running from 25 July – 31 August in honor of the Altador Cup! At the end of the event, participants were awarded the Team Dacardia Stamp (previously released on Island Builders in 2022) and 30,000np!
	Neopets: Tales of Dacardia hosted Crabby Hopbobbin’s Donation Drive event in conjunction with the Faerie Festival from 25 Sept to 09 Oct! Users could recycle 25 items daily to recieve Crabby Tickets were traded in at a prize store for in-game and site awards. Unfortunately the prize store closed at the end of the event, so hopefully you spent all those Crabby Tickets!
	Neopets: Tales of Dacardia also hosted Dacardia’s Nights of Fright in October as a two-part event. Users were awarded the Crabby-bot Y26 Candy Bucket for completing all of the event quests (and received 2 for completing both parts of the event)!
	The Faerie’s Hope app servers went offline on 27 January this year making the game unplayable. But it was re-released on 16 October rebranded as Faerie Fragments! TNT announced that in-game progress from Faerie’s Hope would not be transfered, but stated users who paid for and played Faerie’s Hope would receive in-game gifts as a token of appreciation in the future.
	TNT returned to San Diego Comic-Con from July 24 – 28th this year. The booth theme was a mix of the Void Within and 25th Anniversary styles. For the first time since 2019 Neopets staffed its own booth separate from any merch partner! Partner booths also had merch available including – the Upper Deck booth, What’s Your Passion booth, and UCC Distributing booth. Neopets hosted their own panel on 25 July during the Con.
	TNT is anticipated to host a booth at Fan Expo Canada in Toronto from August 22 – 25th! This will be their first Canadian appearance in quite some time!
	TNT returned to RetroGameCon in Syracuse, NY from October 11 – 13th!

Year 25 (2023)

Plots & Site Events
	The 11th Annual Neopies returned this year, as well as the NC VIP raffle! Some of the available prizes for voting this year were the Princess Terrana Collectable Charm (previously 6M NP) and the highly coveted Rock petpet (previously 6M NP)! Unfortunately I recieved neither… but life goes on.
	On 15 March a Faerie’s Hope tie-in event Lost Fragments kicked off. Luxinia, the light faerie, asked users to collect shards of New Faerieland that had fallen down onto Faerieland. Users are rewarded with an avatar as well as prize shop with event-specific items, retired/rare item re-releases (including the Fyora the Faerie Queen TCG!) and even a Faerie PB!
	Nick Neopia returned for the April Fool’s Prank this year with Sceptic Tank! He’d been living ‘off the grid’ for 36 months investigating TNT’s biggest secrets including: failed expiriments which created cryptids, TNT teaming up with Dr. Sloth to use the Mind Control Lab to brain wash Neopians and manipulate the stock market, Illusen and Jhudora’s ‘scandalous secret’ (jealousy), and the real reason nobody can visit Lutari Island: it’s a large-scale moving surveillance drone sent to monitor Neopians! Users were awarded an avatar for visiting the page and Day at the Beach Background for reading all theories.
	The Festival of Neggs kicked off this year on Virtupets Station, where we learned Mira (the Space Faerie) had recruited Kari’s help in unravelling the mystery of strange negg-like objects found while Mira was patrolling deep space… which were revealed to be eggs containing an adorable new petpet, the Bython! Users also had the opportunity to play Negg Diviner, a tarot card game similar to Tyranu Evavu, where you have to guess if the next card will be higher or lower!
	The Altador Cup returned this year with some changes! Most notably, TNT scaled down the maximum games cap and rank requirements 25% (and adjusted the prize pool proportionally) so now you don’t have to waste hours playing the repetitive games! Team Dacardia was “too busy” to play this year. The winner was ultimately Virtupets, followed by Kreludor placing 2nd, and Maraqua placing 3rd!
	The Faerie Festival was held in October and included daily faerie quests & prizes for visiting the FQ page daily! Users could also choose team Jhudora or Illusen and donate 30 items a day Charity Corner style, to recieve prize capsules that awarded an r90+ item. During the event, we learned Malkus Vile had been paying off the Obsidian Company, polluting Neopia, with an ultimate goal of weakening Water and Earth Faeries. Malkus hired Balthazar to capture Illusen – but Jhudora saved her. The mystery of who hired Vile still stands… but users were awarded prizes (and a prize pool) for participating!
	TNT launched the Quest Log in mid-October as a way for users to earn NP and items (from a pool of items including PBs, PPPBs, and MPs!) every day by checking things off their quest list! Completing all 5 of your daily quests will grant you 20,000np, and completing all quests for 7 days will grant you a weekly prize!
	During this years Advent Calendar, Reina’s prize pool included the coveted Seasonal Attack Pea!! Prizes from the Calendar included: Candychan Stamp (prev. 700M!!!), 8-Bit Power-Up Potion (prev. 30M), Snowickle (prev. 28M), and the paintable Snow Kad & Christmas Snowbunny!! Despite all the joy, Orion (the fortune teller) had a grave warning for Reina… to close the calendar early before something bad happens!

Site Updates
	As of 11 April 2023, all maps (Lab Ray and Petpet Lab Ray included) are able to be redeemed once again! Carrying over from October of last year, TNT has not yet lifted the suspension on redemption of Lab Ray and Petpet Lab Ray maps. However, Forgotten Shore, Spooky, and Original maps are redeemable at this time.
	As of 17 May 2023 the Smuggler’s Cove began restocking items once again! The last item released was in 2014 and the Cove had not stocked in many years! One of the first items stocked was the Pirate Peophin plushie!
	The classic inventory is no longer accessible as of 21 Jan. While TNT says this was planned, users speculated it was implemented sooner than expected due to an exploit allowing pets to be stat increased multiple times with a single-use item.
	TNT fixed a bug which made it impossible to attach P3’s in the beta inventory, and also increased their odds of attaching from 1:1000 to 1:333!
	However, in the beta inventory, you can no longer use stacked items to obtain the I Taunt the Pant Devil avatar (i.e. 121 Bag of Infinite Neggs while estimated over 5,000,000np wont get you the avatar). Jellyneo released a guide to cheaper items you can use to still achieve this avatar however!
	An ominous tower appeared in the skyline of Moltara City. TNT advised there had been rumblings of influx of technological advances across Neopia leading to new businesses and corporations popping up. The tower was featured in the April Fool’s day prank, and was later tied into the Faerie Festival – where it was revealed to be the Moltaran Obsidian Company – with a secret investor Malkus Vile preventing renewable energies…
	Neopian Times Editorial #977 clarified that all future Neopian Times collab entries now have to state what each collaborator contributed to the piece. If it is not included, the submission will not be taken into consideration.
	Neopians were given a survey in Feb 2023 helping to inform TNT of their ultimate needs and wants as a community. This survey also offered a chance to win the ultimate Neopets swag bag!
	Trudy’s Surprise recieved a new prize pool upgrade in March this year including the Ceramic Studio Background!
	Neoboards had a MAJOR update in April: Fan Clubs, Ghoul Catchers, Key Quest, and Legends & Letters were removed. Added boards: Faerie’s Hope, General Discussion, and Experienced/Returning Players. Renamed boards: New to Neopets (Newbies), Neopets Spotlights (Spotlights & Galleries), NC Trading (NC Mall), and Pet Trading (Neopian Pound)!
	After the new neoboards were released, Alice W. announced “you [won’t] be able to discuss hats on the boards unless they are hats found in the game and you call them by their Neopian names.” This rule applied to ALL boards and resulted in multiple users being frozen and outrage from users. Due to the outrage, TNT released a second update that this rule would only apply to the General Neopets board. Read more here.
	TNT finally made old flash games semi-available on the site again by Integrating Ruffle into the site! Now users do not have to download or install Ruffle to get some of our old favorite games to work! You can find the full list on the NF page here!
	TNT overhauled the Settings page so that all of your settings are accessible from one page including general, account, profile, security, neoboards, and mail!
	In addition to the above TNT redesigned A TON of pages to include: Community Central, Spotlights & Contests page, Inventory (including a new toolbar and toggle to unstack items), Pet Central page, Pronounciation page, and Neopia Globe! Read more in Release Notes (Beta V0.5.14)
	The Meteor Crash Site was finally fixed and you can now poke the meteor every hour once again! Previously, users were unable to poke the meteor for days and weeks at a time…
	The Money Tree backlog issue was also finally addressed and updated! Now the tree is clearing at midnight NST nightly to make way for new donations so that junk isn’t built up anymore
	Obtainable UC’s are finally on their way, with a predicted debut in December 2023. During an AMA, Dominic Law reported that there will be a UC Paint Brush that you can apply to your pet like a wearable, with plans for it to be species specific (not colour/species specific). Not all UC’s will launch at once, TNT plans for 30-50 launching (out of over 200) in December, with more coming later.
	An update to Account Recovery was made in late September – the updated account recovery will use security questions to verify ownership (with the number depending on if it is a sensitive or standard account). If still unable to retrieve their account, users can now request an appeal. Read more here.
	A new stamp album was released this year: Virtupets II!
	Bloat B Gone (r101 released from Daily Dare in 2011) which previously had no effect was updated in October to cure pets of Bloaty Belly, and to reduce bloated pets hunger level to “not hungry”!
	Elixir of the Sun (r89), which previously had no effect, was updated in October to either do nothing or heal pets 25 HP outside of the Battledome.

New Creations
	TNT released the Valentine Paint Brush for Neopets (this color was already previously available for petpets) on Valentine’s Day! Pets immediately available to be painted this color were Aisha, Draik, Kacheek, and Kougra. This is the first new paintbrush since the Oil Paint Brush in 2019 (Y21). Thanks TNT!
	For Chia Day, a new Magical Chia Pop (Sroom) and corresponding colour were released! Fruit and Veg chia fans around the world rejoiced at this addition.
	Another Magical Chia Pop (Potato) and corresponding colour were released for Discovery of Meridell Day this year!
	Fruit and Veg Chias also got some well-deserved love in the form of WINGS specific to their fruit or vegetable colour!
	The Magical MSP Poogle Plushie was released this year, allowing users a chance of morphing their pet to MSPP without zapping at the lab ray for eternity!
	In an NC Mall update, TNT released Be-Gone Items allowing you to remove certain aspects of your pet including antenna & horns, body, drippings, eyes, feet, glow, hair, hind, ruff, and wings! Click the link above to read the full details of the Be-Gone items and what pets they can be used on!
	Neopets released items promoting inclusiveness! These included wearables (Portable Oxygen Device, White Cane, Service Petpet Doglefox, AAC Device, 2 Walkers, Walking Cane, IV Pole, G Tube and NG Tube) and books (How to Learn Braille and Neopian Sign Language)! They additionally released a Disability Pride Flag and Neurodivergent & Autism Inifinity Shirts!
	Neopets also recognized diversity this year and released several long-yearned-for natural hair styles, including Box Braids, Finger Coils, Bantu Knots, and Afro! They also released several head wraps and head scarves!
	TNT updated the appearance of the Birthday Slorg to remove the stitching (which some users felt made it look like a plushie in the original version).
	During the Lost Fragments Event, TNT released Varia is the Bomb, a new BD item which deals 25 constant icons (10 physical, 10 fire, 5 light)! This is only usable once per battle, and TNT updated the item after the event ended so only 1 can be equipped per pet.
	TNT released multiple wearable flags again this year for Pride Month to include: Genderfluid, Aromantic, 8-Bit Pride, Gay Man Pride, Pans0xual, and Pride Flag Tapestry!
	On Nimmo day, the Toy Nimmo colour was released! This art was created based off of artwork by u/victoriathegr8one!
	To celebrate Neopet’s 25th birthday, the Toy Poogle colour was released! This pet was inspired by artwork by u/eyries_forever!
	On Bruce Day, the adorable Toy Bruce colour was released, inspired by artwork from u/draik_bianca!
	The Bython petpet was created as a prize for the Festival of Neggs event this year. This petpet is also obtainable through the Robot Petpet shop and is r98!

Off-Site Updates & News
	Jumpstart announced it would be closing it’s doors June 30th, 2023. TNT reassured users that they were still going strong and more dedicated than ever to the site, and on Jumpstart announced “effective immediately, we will be discontinuing support for our current Educational JumpStart and Math Blaster games – this does NOT include Neopets branded games.”
	Initially it was announced development would shift to Fluffy Dog Studios (aka Jumpstart Vancouver), however on 17 July it was announced Neopets would be under new ownership through Neopets World of Neopia, Inc. (not affiliated with Jumpstart or NetDragon), under CEO Dominic Law (the prior head of the Neopets Metaverse project)!
	TNT released a monthly YouTube series in May this year, called Nosy Neopians, hosted by staff members Ivy & Willow. This series hoped to add transparency to the site by giving updates! Users were able to utilize comments to provide suggestions and ask questions. This ran until October 2023, when TNT began hosting monthly AMAs.
	In September, new CEO Dominic Law began holding monthly AMAs on social media! These AMAs feature Dom answering the most asked-about Neopian questions. You can read more about the first AMA on Jellyneo here: jellyneo.net/?comments=14430
	During the first AMA with Dominic Law, he hinted at the future release of new Neopets merchandise: Hats! As well as a giveaway associated with their release.
	In October, Neopets announced new community ambassadors – a group of Neopians (chosen out of 700 applicants!) who will work with TNT to directly to improve Neopia by providing feedback and concerns. If you applied to be an ambassador and didn’t make it, there will be another round of applications in January 2024.
	In a revealing AMA in November, Alice W. (the ticket queen) was revealed to be Kikocat! Alice was also revealed to be the user behind for tnt_contest_judge and tnt_darigan_ferret on the Neoboards! During her interview, she announced successful account returns have increased from 40% to 65% under new policies!
	TNT announced in Editorial #975 that while they would not be re-releasing decks from the short-lived Trading Card Game (TCG, produced 2003-2006), they were in the works with a new company to release an entirely new TCG collection! The first card drop was on 17 Jan and sold out in only 12 minutes! Currently future releases are on hold, will update with more info once available!
	Neopets held a booth at the San Diego Comic Con again this year from 19 to 23 July – and even hosted a Neopets After Party, which previously had not been hosted since 2019!
	Neopets was one of the two gold sponsors at RetroGameCon on 20 Sept this year. During the con, a short pre-recorded video from CEO Dominic Law was presented updating users on the state of Neopets. Later, Keith gave us a summary of the upcoming The Omelette Faerie graphic novel announced earlier this year!
	Neopets: Island Builders app retired in it’s prior form. TNT sought out beta testers in Sept 2023 for a new launch of the app with a rebooted experience! Beta testers started testing the new app in early November.
	In celebration of the new Faerie’s Hope site tie-in (Lost Fragments), TNT hosted a new Faerie’s Hope Neocash Giveaway with a grand prize of 10,000NC!

	The 10th Annual Neopies occured with voting in 17 categories! The NC VIP raffle also made a return this year. There was a glitch with prizes (last years prizes being handed out in place of this years) which TNT rectified swiftly
	For April Fools, Neopets released Dung Dash, Neopias #2 delivery service! Giving Neopians the ability to order from any participating Neopian eatery so they can stay at home on the couch
	This years Negg Festival kicked off at the Neovian Campsite – during this event a new petpet was discovered to be the culprit of the mysterious happenings around Neopia and was released for Neopians to own – the Talpidat! The petpet was released with 2 PB colors: Eventide and Spring, with more colors added throughout the year.
	The winners of this years Altador Cup XVII were… Darigan Citadel! Virtupets took second with Meridell taking third. Congrats all around! This year featured a tie-in to the mobile app (Island Builders), with a challenge in-app allowing you to win Dacardia-specific prizes on Neopets!
	Kiko Lake introduced the newest member of their AC team: Lili Lever, who replaces Ditan Colb as the right defender.
	Kreludor also picked up a new player: Motor Dahy, replacing Zenor Kevix as the right foward on the team.
	At the end of the Altador Cup, Neopets announced a 19th team would join the fray next year – Team Dacardia! It appears their colors will include purple and turquoise. More to come next year!
	Neopets announced that Granny Hopbobbin would not be making an appearance for Charity Corner this year due to their desire to focus energies on a future plot event (for the next year) and other site updates. This was announced in NT Editorial #969.
	This year trick-or-treat bags were hidden around the site, and in an update from prior years (when you could only collect bags on the 31st of October), these bags were retrievable from 24 Oct – 31 Oct! Also, for the first time in multiple years, some of the bags had the chance to award a Haunted PB and Haunted Petpet PB!
	TNT celebrated Neopet’s 23rd Birthday in style, giving 750NC to all users! This could also be claimed on sides!
	The Advent Calendar released some expensive items this year including: the Sticky Snowflake Stamp (r99 Snowy Valley Stamp, previously 140M), Snow Faerie Doll (r180, previously 5M), Snow Petpet PB (the last drop was in 2003), Christmas PB, and a new petpetpet: the Beelzebug. Additionally: Christmas Meowclops & Snow Candychan which were both paintable!!!

Site Updates
	Two-factor identification arrived in Neopia with a goal of keeping your accounts much safer. Read more about how to set this up On the Neopets FAQ. Though optional, this is great way to take steps to ensure your security on the site. It requires you to use a secondary device (like your cellphone) to be able to log into Neopets.
	Neopets became the unfortunate target of a data breach, with over 69 million accounts compromised and leaking of personal information including passwords, birthdays, IP addressess, etc. All of the leaked information was offered for sale on a third-party website. TNT responded by forcing password resets for all users while they looked into what caused the breach and how to prevent this in the future.
	Stackpath, a security service that Neopets uses to flag bots (and preventing cheating), had settings adjusted which resulted in the banning of users from using the site. TNT released a statement that anyone banned by Stackpath (you’ll receive a page that states “Sorry you have been blocked” when loading Neopets) should submit a ticket.
	Finally, ALL maps were fully converted to HTML5 – including the new jiggling jelly world!
	The flash tombstones which had replaced pet images in userlookups and on the quick reference page were removed and replaced with static images of your pets!
	More invisible pets started to be able to wear clothes and accessories this year – starting with the Aisha, Acara, and Wocky. Users were thrilled their pets could be customized more than before. Neopets continues to rezone items for Invisible pets!
	TNT addressed an issue with the pound where users abandoned a random pet instead of the intended neopet. Currently, this issue only impacts mobile users on web browsers Chrome and Safari. TNT will update us when this is patched!
	The Transfer Page at the pound now allows you to see how many pet slots the recieving user has, and the maximum number of transfers allowed.
	The NC Collectible Case was finally (after 2 full years) converted to HTML5, allowing users to view their collections and also removed trapped items from the case!
	In March, a site-wide issue caused non-converted pets with UC pet forms to appear visually as UC pets. This resulted in these “fake UCs” being used in the Pound Chat for trades, causing the Neopian Pound to close for 2 days while the issue was sorted out.
	Due to a glitch allowing maps to be exploited, TNT suspended redemption of all maps (including the Forgotten Shore, Lab Ray, and Petpet Lab Ray) in October. Maps are unable to be redeemed for all users; no word on when the maps will be accessible again. Update: As of 19 Dec Forgotten Shore, Original, and Spooky Maps became redeemable.
	Speaking of maps, TNT released an official Road Map to update users on what they have planned in the coming months. This is different from the beta updates, as it details their plans for plots and updates to the site!
	Neopets began incorporating more non-English submissions in writing contests, galleries, and Neopian Times!
	The Neolodge now allows you to book all of your pets in Cockroach Towers at once! Hurrah!
	The mechanics of dailies, wheels, etc. were unofficially broken down, allowing users to see into prize pools and odds of their favorite activities. Crumbs of Information is a petpage which lists some of this data! One of the highlights of this breakdown was learning that Symol Hole has a 4-min prize pool window every hour 😮 allowing users to win prizes much easier!
	The Almost Abandoned Attic made its return to the site. This site favorite offers users with accounts over 3 years old the ability to purchase r80-r99 items!
	TNT increased the drop rate of items that qualified for the Rubbish Dump Avatar, and avatar collectors around Neopets rejoiced as nobody had obtained this avatar (reportedly) since 2018!
	The Caption Contest voting schedule was updated: the same entry format was used (picture uploaded/entries start on 01 of the month, are open for 21 days) but voting now lasts a few days rather than a week.
	Kadoatie Feeding has been updated! Now, Kads that haven’t been fed in 72 hours will be automatically removed from The Kadoatery, making room for more hungry Kads!
	Moltara Worms work once again! Go to Moltara and start filling those lanterns so you can have access to the Dark Cave to harvest Red Moltite.
	Test Your Strength was also upgraded to HTML5 in December of this year! You can still access the direct prize page (for now) by clicking this link.
	Trudy’s Surprise updated the prize pool yet again. You can still get the 100,000NP prize after spinning for 25 consecutive days, but in multiple months new prizes and items were added to the pool. Additionally, Trudy’s Surprise now has the chance to reward retired Trudy’s surprise items.
	In November, TNT released a UC Pet Survey to users, in order to determine the best direction to get these coveted pets back into Neopia for all users to enjoy!
	Gift Box Mystery Capsules will be purchaseable throughout the year in the NC mall! On the 1st of every month, TNT will remove the old GBMC and replace it with a new one
	The NC mall hosted their annual Spring Cleaning Sale in April of this year – where five retired GBMC from Y23 returned to the mall at steeply discounted rates – 75NC on 23 April and 100NC on 24 April!
	This year the Mystery Picture Competition (Round #1713) awarded users the r101 Scary Tree Stamp! This had previously only been handed out in Round #151 of the competition which was many many moons ago…
	A new stamp album was released this year: Card Collector!

New Creations
	The Tyrannian Chomby was released on the 23rd of March, but subsequently underwent a “DNA change” (after multiple users complained about the artwork) and was revamped into a new look on the 25th of March!
	A few new pets were created based off of user artwork including the adorable Elderly Lenny, designed by three users: u/Jaudaran, u/victoriathegr8one, and u/parody_ham.
	Another color based off a user creation was the Maraquan Koi designed by u/chantili_doce! A stunning job!
	The Burlap Kau (which would become a highly sought after pet, and drive inflation of Kau Morphing Potions) was released and based on the artwork of u/cowsprite!
	And yet another color was released, based off of artwork crafted by u/ziporen: the 8-bit Tuskaninny!!
	Neopets released two new magical chia pops: the first being the Magical Coconut Chia Pop…
	…And the second being the Magical Juppie Swirl Chia Pop. Now users can add these two cute colors to their fruit and vegetable collections!
	TNT released multiple wearable flags this year to promote inclusivity including the: Asaxual, Bisaxual, Lesbian, Non-Binary, Progress, and Transgender Pride Flags!
	Additionally, a host of events and competitions were pride-themed throughout Pride Month (June)!
	The Talpidat petpet was created as a prize for the Festival of Neggs event this year. This petpet is also obtainable through the Spooky Petpet shop and is r98!

Off-Site Releases
	Neopets released a new app called Faerie’s Hope; this game is a match-three tile game with the goal to build your own New Faerieland! This app was originally called Neopets Movie Studios. It was initially released in beta-mode in early 2022, but went non-beta 16 Dec 2022, with a tie in to win a prize on Neopets for completing challenges!
	Neopets also hosted a Neopets: Faeries Hope Neocash Giveaway with a grand prize of 20,000NC (followed by 10,000NC and 5,000NC). Users had to submit their information to enter, and were selected randomly!
	There were several Island Builders tie-in site events this year including Valentines Day and Negg Festival
	Neopets branched out to the New York Comi-Con in addition to the San Diego Comic-Con this year!
	Neopets finally released the one thing none of us were asking for! Their very own cookbook. This is available off-site for purchase, features 40 recipes, and is claimed to be the “ultimate collectors item”…

Plots & Site Events
	The 9th annual Neopies occurred in January, originally with 15 categories, but a 16th was added midway through the event – a re-vote for the standalone advent animation.
	Neovision+ was introduced on April Fools Day, streaming such shows as Dr Roo and Spookynatural and films including the Kreludorian. A new avatar was released alongside the prank, which is still claimable as of 2022. .
	The Negg Festival this year featured the hunt for Topsi, who was notably absent last year (reportedly playing hide-and-seek). In addition to winning prizes for finding neggs, additional prizes were awarded to those who found Topsi while playing a game of Hide-and-Seek! The event concluded with Topsi being revealed to be a robot working for Dr. Sloth
	For the first time, Altador took home the cup during the Altador Cup XVI! An amazing win for the underdogs and host of the event. They were followed by Kreludor in second place and Darigan Citadel in third!
	Faerieland’s AC team picked up a new member this year: Whimsi Dia, replacing Elbin Kroe as the new left foward.
	Mystery Island also picked up a new team member, their newest left foward Tulay Ada, replacing Teylor Nix.
	To celebrate the new Community Manager (Petrichor) joining the site, during the month of August, a ‘Share Your Story’ event was held on the Site Events Neoboard, with a grand prize of 1,000 NC!
	Neo celebrated their 22nd Birthday in style, giving all users 500NC upon visiting the site!

Site Updates
	The day so many neopians had pleaded for with no luck for years finally came: extra pet slots! Now non-premium members will start off with 6 pets (up from 4) and premium members will start off with 10 pet slots (up from 5). Additionally, TNT began selling additional pet slots at the NC Mall – allowing users the ability to add 10 additional pet slots to their base number (some math for you: this means up to 16 pet slots for non-premium members and 20 pet slots for premium members!). Read more here.
	Transfer limits were ‘temporarily removed’ so that users were no longer limited to how many pets they could transfer in a day based on account age. TNT stated in Editorial #943 they would announce when the limit was brought back, but as of 2022 we are still unlimited!
	In additional pet news, Lutaris are finally transferrable! No more getting lost when you attempt to transfer this sneaky pet – unless you abandon them of course!
	TNT released news that plans were in development for an Unconverted Pet (UC) revival! Additionally, upon Gutterfoot leaving Neo in 2022, she released more information about this in Editorial #954. Specifically, she mentioned that TNT’s early thoughts are to release a UC paintbrush color periodically in the NC mall which allows users to paint existing UC pets.. but stated that this might change with later development.
	TNT let users know that all tickets must be submitted/created through the Help Page instead of through e-mail alone. And of course, if you want to expedite your ticket, ensure you check out the Highway to Help page.
	After a long wait, Random Events finally returned to the Mobile Beta Site. Previously random events would only work on Neopets Classic. Of note, the Tooth Fairy Random Event is not active and the avatar is now unobtainable.
	Better Than You was officially discontinued as of Feb 2021. With that, the avatar and trophies rewarded were also retired.
	The Neopian Times was switched from a weekly release to a biweekly release to give TNT more time to update the site and work on events. Because of this change, TNT updated when Anniversary editions occur (since it would be a very long time waiting for 100 editions) to make every 25th, 50th, 75th, and 100th issue an Anniversary Issue.
	The Storytelling Contest was updated to bi-weekly to give users more time to work on their entries!
	Editorial #946 announced that modern technology (including cars and cellphones) are now allowed in creative contest entries!
	Kitchen Quests now rewards stats ONLY to your active pet, instead of a random pet on your account.
	In a landmark event, Neopian users got together to finally figure out every Cooking Pot Recipe. A phenomenal feat years in the making!
	Permanent Access for the Magma Pool has been updated for Neopets Beta. Allegedly, permanent access is only granted to users who completed the Atlas of Ancients plot (who have to do a few things in Moltara to be granted this access)… but this has never been confirmed.
	Neopets Mobile (Beta) continued to make upgrades to the site, replacing flash items, and adding improvements to the mobile site. Read more about it in the release notes.

New Creations
	TNT updated the Create A Pet page to give users a beginners bandana (in red, yellow, green, or blue) with the creation of a new pet! Stylin’!
	During the Festival of Neggs, a new beta theme was released!
	One of the most stunning pieces of fanart I’ve seen is the Maraquan Kiko created by u/chantili_doce. TNT was so inspired that they used her design to bring her artwork to life with the release of the Mara Kiko!!
	TNT also introduced another pet colour inspired by the artwork of u/chantili_doce: the scary Maraquan Jetsam!
	Another user, u/nahhnbahs_side made an adorable and yummy looking candy corn Korbat, which Neopets used as the inspiration for their Candy Korbat!
	TNT released packs of 1, 5, and 10 pet slots in the NC mall which will a permanent feature in the mall.

Off-Site Releases
	In merch news, Neopets released several items throughout the year, including enamel pins, Altador Cup coins, mugs, t-shirts, sweaters, bags, and the list goes on!
	In a highly critisized move, the Neopets Metaverse was unveiled as an NFT project in Sept 2021. Users were outraged that TNT was focusing on an NFT – which no player asked for – rather than updating the beta site, fixing issues caused by loss of Adobe Flash, or releasing new plots (none released since 2018). TNT sold 4,233 of the 20,000 NFTs announced. Read more here.
	As of November 19th, Ghoul Catchers no longer rewarded neopoints to players. This app, though removed from the app store last year, remained installed if downloaded before removal, and allowed users to play for neopoints until this point.

	The 8th Annual Neopies occured with voting in 16 categories!
	The Faerie Quest Event featured Mr. Krawley this year – with Neopians being asked to help with side effects from some of the merchandise purchased by faeries from this nefarious character. There was some confusion over requirements for the final bonus prize – with some believing you had to complete the faerie quests every day – however, TNT let everyone know that requirements had not changed and neopians everywhere rejoiced!

Neopets Releases
	Neopets released some limited-edition merch – a throw pillow and a rug – to celebrate the 20th anniversary!
	The April Fools Joke this year was rather tame, with the return of Nick Neopia who brought plans for a site redesign and may have caused mild chaos turning site pages upside down!

	Altador Cup XIV was wrought with intermittent site outages, requiring an extension by a few days. Terror Mountain emerged as the winning team, followed by Virtupets and Maraqua! Score one for the little guys
	Charity Corner returned with a new host, Atsumi, and a new name – “Living with Less.” Initially, the discard function was flawed and painful to use. TNT responded to User’s concerns and implemented a new discard function (similar to quickstock) and ultimately ended up extending the event by a week to compensate. The Perk Shop had its own issues, with some perks not working and some being taken down. This was still a work-in-progress over a month later.

Neopets Releases
	Neopets released Legends & Letters, a mobile-based app.
	The 2019 April Fools Day Prank featured a faux Charity Corner Gift Shop with some ahem interesting perks, including being able to spin a wheel with a chance to win r101 and r180 stamps at no cost, as well as a perk offering you to meet Sutek’s spirit at Sutek’s tomb (where if you could answer a riddle correctly, you would be granted three wishes for whatever you wanted!). Alas, it was all a prank.
	Neopets hosted a booth at Comic Con again this year. This year, there were multiple demos including the Neopets X mobile app which allows you to rebuild a new island (Dacardia) after it was destroyed. Additionally, there was a demo of Neopets Mobile which was a mobile redesign of the original website to make it much easier to use on a smartphone.
	Petpages now require you to log in before viewing – this broke a few features including being able to find petpages on search engines and complicating the finding of stuck pet finding
	TNT started a Social Media Creative Contest hosted on a site that Tweets! All winners received a Comic Con Code as a reward!
	Jumpstart CEO left the company

Site Updates
	Trudy’s Surprise was updated to release items every 7 days in addition to winning 100k every 25 spins!
	A popular hosting site, Tinypic was discontinued in September 2019. Hopefully you still have those images saved somewhere…
	TNT deployed a new firewall in early September to help prevent bot use across the site. Initially this caused many issues including game scores not sending. This was quickly rectified with CAPTCHAs deployed across many pages and an internal delay of page loading if the site recognized you as accessing too many pages too quickly.
	The Neopies returned! Last time these were a part of the site was in 2014!
	TNT began putting a 1 year restriction on consumption of Birthday Cupcakes due to prior abuse of this reward.

Plots & Site Events
	Shortly after the Faerie Festival, Fyora was kidnapped and the site of the festival was heavily vandalized. The Wraith Resurgence plot emerged! This plot included the new faerie (Kaia) – the Darkest Faerie disguised herself as Kaia to attack Faerieland!
	Granny Hopbobbin decided to change the old format of Charity Corner up – gone are the days of receiving items for every five donations. You now sprend your earned points in a prize shop for site perks including 7 days of good events and increased bank interest!
	Altador Cup XIII sign-ups were transiently delayed for un-clear reasons, but the cup was successful and Tyrannia emerged as the victors, followed closely by Meridell and Terror Mountain!

Neopets Releases
	April Fool’s day was heralded by an announcement of a Neopets themepark in mainland China as well the launch of NeopetsTV in 2020 – a TV station devoted exclusively to all-new Neopets programming!
	New real-life neopets merchandise was released with new codes; unfortunately this release did have some hiccups, but the merch was cool and included baby neopet pins!

	Neopets Cryptoquest was released. This new site featured a game where you complete quests to escape the Haunted Woods. This required the purchase of a Cryptoquest Card (which came with a prize code) and awarded Reward Cards (which also came with prize codes).

Site Updates
	After being down for a long stretch of time, the Random Contest was re-instated with some… interesting new challenge themes
	The User Shop cap was raised from 99,999 to 999,999. This resulted in some mild deflation of unbuyable objects, but overall was widely rejoiced
	Tons of stamp avatars were released (see below)
	Meridell was the recipient of a make-over, and was accompanied by a short game, Dragoyle Hunting, to help familiarize users with the map
	Brightvale also got a remodel and a short event involving a wizard creating portals throughout Brightvale.
	Rounding out the world map revamps, Lost Desert got a face lift. This was accompanied with a site plot, Lyra and the Lost Heirloom.
	With the introduction of a new faerie, new Kaia Faerie Quests were created – these quests only appear if you have an NC item in your inventory as well as a Pink Paper Bag (NC item); she will request the item in your inventory!

Year 19 (2017)

Plots & Site Events
	Chadley and Abagail hosted the Daily Dare, with AAA suspiciously absent… don’t worry, the last challenge was AAA’s revenge this year!
	Altador Cup XIII had its own set of issues once again this year, with score submissions closing 35 minutes early on the last day. TNT adjusted the level requirements to compensate for the time loss. The entire tournament was rife with its own drama, including allegations of cheaters in both KI & RI. Final results announced Kiko Lake as the winner, followed by Kreludor and Maraqua!
	The Faerie Festival was shut down early, with a notice from Fyora herself to get your pets ready for battle! This warning wouldn’t come to frutition almost the end of the year, with the release of the Wraith Resurgence plot.

Neopets Releases
	TNT’s April Fools joke this year was the introduction of the Befriending Dome; this was a place where users could make new friends, give out compliments, give gifts, etc. Every user who visited the page was awarded a Rose of Friendship.

Site Updates
	The limit of pets per account increased from 4 to 5! For premium users, this meant an increase of pets from 5 to 6!!
	The Petpet Protection League returned!
	Users were allowed to vote for the next neocolour. The winner was Candy, followed by Marble, then Floral. While intial plans were to only release 1 paint brush, TNT decided to release both Candy and Marble!
	Neopets gave the Site Rules a small refresh.
	A new faerie was born just in time for the Faerie Festival! Meet Kaia! A lot of Kaia-themed objects were released to celebrate this release

	Neopets released a highly controversial item, the Burrito in the Wall, which was quickly redacted due to public reaction. TNT released a statement announcing the site would remain politic-free.

Year 18 (2016)

Plots & Site Events
	The 2000th poetry contest was celebrated
	Neopets released a statement that a disease was spreading among some participants of Altador Cup XI, with symptoms of multiple personality disorder and temporary feeling of supernatural or magical performance. In order to stop the spread of this plague, TNT quarantined the affected players (and their scores) resulting in Maraqua and Kreludor dropping lower in the rankings toward the end of the cup. In the end, Mystery Island emerged victorious, followed by Tyrannia and Kiko Lake.
	In additional AC news, further cap adjustments were made to the number of games you could play for scores each day. This included a reduction in YYB from 68 to 46 games, SOSD & MSN from 762 to 401 games, and Slushie Slinger from 139 to 86 games per day.

Neopets Releases
	Neopets did report on a data breach with a leak of a large amount of info from player accounts to third parties. This breach actually occured in 2012, but was not reported until 2016 (after Jumpstart’s acquisition).
	The April Fool’s Day prank was the introduction of the Neopian Net Worth Calculator, where you could apply for clubs with eligibility depending on your calculated net worth. Additionally, prank items were released including an NC printer, name change certificate, and stamp retriever – all items requested by players previously.

	The Cooking Pot was taken down from April to August to allow for maintenance!
	Trudy’s Surprise was updated so that it no longer appeared at the top of every page on Neopets, instead it now has its own page here

Year 17 (2015)

Plots & Site Events
	The Faerie Quest Event introduced quests from Baelia (the Grey Faerie) and the Soup Faerie this year! These faeries decided to stick around after the event to continue to offer quests to lucky Neopians!
	As expected there were a few hiccups for Altador Cup X (would it be the AC without them?). These included sign-up errors (10 year players not being able to sign-up), scores applying to the prior years stats, and scores not counting. The cup was also extended a couple days due to site maintenance and frequent down time. The winning team this year was Kiko Lake, followed by Kreludor and Tyrannia!

Neopets Releases
	Neopets released Ghoul Catchers, an exciting mobile game where you play to match up (and banish!) ghouls which escaped from the Haunted Woods, moving through different lands of Neopia. This game introduced great rewards, stamps, and can earn you 50k a day!
	The April Fool’s Day prank this year was based on user fears following the acquisition of Neopets by Jumpstart, with most features of the site temporarily being converted to more Jumpstart-y layouts. It was… terrifying.

Site Updates
	After the server migration of 2014, the site continued to experience frequent downtime and lag throughout the year with additional server ugrades. For a period of time, userlookups were taken down to help reduce the lag (though this didn’t really help much)
	The Noil was added to the list of Neoboard emojis to celebrate the one-off Noil Day hosted this year
	Sadly, Jumpstart’s CEO David Lord released a news update informing Neopians that some of their favorite (and long-time) TNT members had been let go due to ‘restructuring of resources.
	The neoboard filters and moderation system went ‘down’ requiring a shut-down of all Neoboards due to abuse of the downtime. This was rectified quickly.
	Neopets introduced Trudy’s Surprise, a new daily where you spin the wheel daily to win prizes. On your 28th consecutive spin, you win 100k neopoints!

	Petpets got a new colour with the release of the Valentine Petpet Paint Brush
	Neopets released the Polka Dot colour and associated paint brush.
	Fanciful Fauna introduced a new petpet, the Muyang, in honor of the Shenkuu Lunar Festival.

● It’s been a long time coming, but Tyrannia finally got its revamp this year. If it’s been a while since you’ve set foot or paw in those dry plains and lush jungles, come and see flying Pteridactyls, bright paintings and the new Ugga Shinies shop.New Discoveries and Inventions

● The new Upcycle Fortune Cookie from the NC Mall allows certain Neocash items to appear in the Money Tree when the cookie’s users donate them. They will be listed as donated by “a generous NC Mall shopper”. So far, only relatively cheap items seem to show up (more expensive ones can be donated, but will not appear).

● The Pastel Paint Brush was an early gift for the Day of Giving this year. Its soft, fabric-like colours are sure to be a hit with those who like their pets to be pretty in pink, purple, and peppermint-green.Major Events

● April Fools’ Day this year was somewhat quiet on the Neopets Team’s part, but they did announce the upcoming release of a new line of real-life merchandise. Unfortunately, with items such as Sophie’s Stew-Flavoured Tea and the Home Cosmetic Surgery Kit, it’s doubtful their sales would have been much to write home about. The items “inexplicably” vanished from the Merchandise page the following day.

● A strange and powerful obelisk was discovered on the outskirts of Tyrannia this spring. Six factions immediately started fighting over it, making use of the newly revamped Battledome. Eventually, the Sway, an influential group of plotters and social manipulators, were successful in freeing a mysterious being called the Oracle. Smaller fights continue, but what further consequences this will have for Neopia is still unknown.

● It’s been a big year for Tyrannia! A war, a revamp, and first place in Altador Cup VIII. Let’s hear some roars for the dinosaurs.

● While Aristotle Avinroo was off on holiday this summer, a young Zafara named Chadley helped Abigail run Daily Dare. If you thought it wasn’t possible to get more arrogant than AAA, well, let’s just say this guy managed it! Normal service has been restored, thank goodness.

● During the Month of Collecting, an eating contest in the Haunted Woods went horribly wrong when one of the contestants transformed into a rampaging monster. Hotshot monster-hunting team Kell the Wocky and Corbin the Ogrin (who, all agree, has beautiful, beautiful hair) went in search of it, with assistance from players who wandered around catacombs getting hit by stray curses until the creature was captured.

Year 14

● Neopets has moved closer to its fan community with the introduction of Certified Fan Sites! If TNT find a really useful site that complies with the right rules and regulations, they may decide to list it on Neopets. Tried and trusted fansites can be mentioned on the Neoboards without fear of the moderators!

●Neopets Premium was overhauled this summer, with the newly revamped service being run by the Neopets Team themselves rather than a third party. This has led to some important decisions from TNT. Notably, Neopets Webmail has been retired and can no longer be accessed. The Premium Portal is also gone, and at the moment the Premium service no longer requires an invitation to sign up. Perhaps most noticeably, Premium members are permitted to own a fifth Neopet. This is currently allowed only on main accounts.

●The navigation bar was tweaked a little this year to contain the new Premium and Community menus. Pet Central can now be found in the Explore menu, rather than as its own category.

● It’s the end of an era, and the beginning of one to come; TNT announced this year that the current Neopets Battledome would be closing permanently, giving way to a brand new battle arena, which entered beta-testing before the end of the year. Grab your weapons!Revamps

● The Gameroom was revamped once again this year, just in time for the Y14 Daily Dare. The functionality remains much the same, but you may need to update your bookmarks if you’ve got links to specific games anywhere.

● After an infestation of bugs blockaded Roo Island, King Roo took the opportunity to call in the redecorators. The new island is much more spacious and detailed, but the surprise decision to relocate several of Neopia Central’s creative venues to Roo Island left many players a little conflicted.

● Site Spotlight has returned! This contest showcases Neopia’s greatest petpages, and all winners get a mention in New Features.

● Several popular daily activities, such as the Lost Desert Fruit Machine and the Tombola, received tweaks this year — new artwork, a larger range of possible prizes, or both.New Discoveries and Inventions

● The new Eventide Paint Brush invented this year lets your Neopets glow with all the colours of a beautiful sunset. How romantic!

● Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie, your Neopet can now look ancient and full of wisdom — or possibly just crotchetiness — with the new Get Off My Lawn Paint Brush, introduced this spring. This paint brush, like Royal, has two different looks, Elderly Boy and Elderly Girl.

● What’s that lurking in the shadows?! It could be a Neopet painted with the new Stealth Paint Brush, this summer’s shadiest addition. Not quite the same as Shadow, Stealth comes in a very shifty deep blue.

● A deep cavern in Shenkuu holds the Mysterious Clockwork Negg. Originally hidden away from Neopia by a band of brave Neopets, this mechanical marvel is now safe to open. The puzzle locks on it can be solved once a day for a variety of prizes.

● It glows, but it’s not Glowing. It’s bright blue, but it’s not Electric. The new Dimensional Paint Brush introduced this autumn gives Neopets a very futuristic look!Major Events

● April Fools’ Day fell on a Sunday this year, but that didn’t stop TNT doing their level best to alarm and amuse players. A supposedly misfiring lab ray and a new three-pet policy to save on server overload were just two of the hair-raising hoaxes played on Neopets users this year. Unfortunately, some pets’ unconverted appearances failed to correctly return to normal on time when the event finished, leaving certain players with a sadly sour impression of the day’s pranks.

●Congratulations to Team Kreludor (which just so happened to include yours truly!) for throwing, slinging, and yelling their way to a triumphant victory in Altador Cup VII.

Year 13

● This year, TNT decided to build their Facebook presence more closely into the main Neopets site. As such, the word “Facebook” is no longer blocked on petpages or the boards, and Flash games can now be “liked” at a click of a button. (If you really hate these buttons and don’t want to see them at all, go here.) Linking to or talking about your own Facebook profile or friends is still against the rules, though.Revamps

● With the rebuilding of Faerieland comes the return of Faerie Quests! These work in much the same way as they always did, with the exception that quest rewards are now granted to your active pet — no more hoping the Faerie randomly picks your Battledomer. A new face also joined the quest team with the introduction of Delina, a Dark Faerie who has more time for craftwork and machinery than battledoming. She doesn’t give stat boosts, but rather, exclusive Neocash items.

● Krawk Island is now divided into two areas: the main body of the island and its central harbour, Warf Wharf. Be sure to drop by and check out the new look… while keeping a tight hold on any money you might have with you.New Discoveries and Inventions

● If you like your Neopets misty, murky and an acid shade of green, then the new Swamp Gas paintbrush, invented this summer, is certainly for you.

● Lab ray enthusiasts were intrigued by the arrival of a new lab-only colour. Designed to mimic the pixellated computer graphics that existed several years ago, Eight-Bit is proving to be something of a polarising colour– most people have a strong opinion of some sort about it. At the moment, it appears that this colour is not compatible with most clothing items, making it the fifth “uncustomisable” colour on the site.

● A new chance game made its debut this year, aimed at those who really do have more money than they know what to do with. The Wheel of Extravagance costs a whopping 100,000 Neopoints per spin, but gives out some rather spectacular prizes in return. Come and try your luck if you can spare the NP…

● Ever looked at your Slorg and felt it was just missing a hat and some mascara? A robe for your Seece? Petpets can now be painted Royal!

● The Water Paint Brush invented this summer will certainly cool your Neopets down! Unlike Maraquan, this colour is actually made out of sparkling blue water, for a rather unique new look.

● Released just in time for the dark and spooky nights of autumn, the Wraith Paint Brush will make your Neopet as shadowy and mysterious as one of the Faeries’ Ruin wraiths! Don’t get scared of the dark.Major Events

● Early this summer, Neopets reached ONE TRILLION pageviews. That’s one heck of a big number! To celebrate, several rare items were given away or sold at low prices. Here’s to the next trillion!

● Altador Cup VI drew to a close this summer with a win for Team Virtupets, who managed to pull off a well-earned victory despite glitches resulting from a last-minute revamp of Yooyuball. Congratulations to all who took part!

● Krawk Island disappeared unexpectedly this year after sightings of what looked like a giant squid. However, it returned better than before thanks to the efforts of an enterprising Krawk, Gavril McGill.

Year 12

● Unconverted (UC) pets, that is, pets whose owners have still not made the switch to the current customisation system, are now immune to colour-changing random events such as Boochi and invisibility. Cue a sigh of relief from all UC owners.

● Support requests can now be tracked at any time of day or night. Just click “Help” at the foot of any page and press “My Support” (if the page refreshes, try it again). No more wondering if your bug report was eaten by gerbils.

● In early autumn, the Terms and Conditions of the site were revised. There were no major changes, but the terms were made a bit less specific so they could also apply to Petpet Park (and any future spinoffs). Apparently the collective term for these is “Nickelodeon Virtual Worlds” — swish, huh?

● Watch your mouth! People who say something they shouldn’t on the boards or Neomail can now be silenced instead of being suspended or frozen. They can still use their accounts, but for a set amount of time will be unable to communicate with any other users. Kad got your tongue?Revamps

● The most striking change this year was Faerielands relocation from the sky to a lovely leafy glade near the Haunted Woods. All Neopia’s mistresses of magic now live in a completely redesigned city full of plants and grasses. How could anyone ever miss being up on a cloud? (If you’ve been avoiding Faerieland due to its not safe for dial-up qualities, now might be a good time to check again!)

● TNT began working on new looks for many of the Neopian shopkeepers this year. They now look more individual and colourful than before, though for the most part they have remained the same species and colour.

● The Referral Programme was overhauled this year, to provide more useful prizes and clear out ancient high-score tables. Don’t worry if you’ve used link buttons on your favourite non-Neopets sites, though– your old referral link will still work.

● After many years of loyal service, the chance wheels of Neopia (Excitement, Monotony, Mediocrity, Misfortune and Knowledge) broke down this year. An enterprising red Lenny collected donations from Neopians to save them, and the wheels returned in more beautiful and functional forms. Unfortunately, the Wheel of Excitement’s “secret item” still does absolutely nothing…

● The login page was altered this year to be similar to Petpet Park’s. According to TNT, despite the absence of active Neopet verification, the new page is considerably safer.New Discoveries and Inventions

● On April 1st, a brand new paint brush made its way into Neopia… but for once, this new addition wasn’t a joke! The Relic PB turns Neopets into ancient statues from a long-gone civilisation. Only a handful of Relic pets are available as yet, but expect more to be added over the year.

● Users over three years old on the site can now access the Almost Abandoned Attic, a quiet little nook inhabited by a friendly Ghost Aisha. This shop works the same way as the Igloo Garage Sale, but there are some rarer items there that have only just seen the light of day. If you’re a veteran on a very fast connection, come and have a rummage! There are several other new treats for long-time players, too, including an increased number of safe transfers per month. ● Remember Neoplants and the idea of owning a plant as your pet? Well, whether you do or you don’t, your pet now has the chance to become a little closer to nature with the Woodland Paint Brush, introduced in June. With leaves, bark and twigs attached, the Acara was the first pet to be made into a tree… without having a wooden look on its face.

● It’s not just Neopets that hunger for your brains any more. Petpets can now be painted Zombie! Run!

● The Transparent Paint Brush debuted this year, allowing curious owners to see right through their pets’ skin. Mad scientist wannabes, this one’s for you.

● It’s rare for a new site feature to be full of bugs on purpose, but this year saw the introduction of a game called Professor Milton Clodbottle’s Astounding Habitarium. This game, where players looked after a collection of Petpetpets as they worked, ate, and slept, was such a reliable source of easy Neopoints that it caused considerable inflation in the Neopian economy until it was retired in Year Sixteen.

● The beautiful Maractite Paint Brush also made its first appearance this year, creating a lovely blue-swirled look for your pet.Major Events

● A new Neopian holiday was celebrated for the first time this year. The Festival of Neggs was a tribute to Neopia’s most versatile vegetable. If you can think of a good reason for this, please tell me.

● April Fools’ Day saw the first ever interactive pranks being played on Neopians, with users able to throw pie, short-duration morphing potions and Slorg slime at their friends’ pets. These wearable items disappeared when the day was over, but in the meantime they made for a lot of fun!

● Tarla, proprietor of the Shop of Mystery, decided to set off on a short holiday around Neopia early this year. For a few weeks, she turned up in random spots around Neopia and those who clicked her could get prizes, including special wearables if you managed to collect a certain number of successful clicks. But eventually, Tarla returned to Terror Mountain to find that there’s no place like home. All together now… Awwwwww!

● It may not qualify as a major event, but this year saw the rise of what is possibly the first spontaneous Neopets-only meme. In response to an editorial question about contest judging, TNT picked a random Caption Contest entry out of their virtual hat and displayed it in the NT. It turned out to be a bizarre, over-wordy and strangely phrased dialogue between two (or possibly three) characters, ending with the words “GOOD NIGHT, mr. coconut”. Something in the absurd humour of this has taken Neopia by storm, and now it’s not uncommon to see references to Mr. Coconut in the editorial or on the boards.

● The fifth Altador Cup ended in a thrilling win for Team Lost Desert. Congratulations to all the LD players! Meanwhile in Glendale, Twitterpate scooped a win for Mystery Island in the Staff Yooyuball Tournament.

● Tragedy struck the Faerie Festival this autumn as Neopia’s Faeries were turned into statues. After many thrills and spills, the culprit– a student of Fyora’s, no less– was tracked down by heroic warrior Brynn and dashing thief Hanso. The Faeries were restored, but have they learnt their lesson about acting too superior? Only time will tell.

Year 11

● All new games on the site are now the subjects of the New Game Challenge. They can be played five times for Neopoints, and players are invited to beat target scores. Both these things end when another new game is released and the challenge moves to it.

● The image URLs for pet images were tweaked this year, causing a few unexpected glitches. If your pet is showing up as a grey cogwheel or a bizarre colour/species combination, put an item of clothing on hir, save, and take it off again. (For you UC owners– backgrounds work too.)Revamps

● Faerieland and Terror Mountain both got a long-needed revamp this year. With the revamp has come a couple of changes– the Hidden Tower is now to the east, not the west, of the castle in Faerie City, and the Wocky’s Scratchcard Kiosk is now out in the open air in Happy Valley.

● The site menu at the top of every page has undergone a few tweaks. TNT decided to retire the Neovision contest due to lack of interest, and so its button has been removed. For those who can’t get enough of personalising things, there is now a “Customisation” menu. (Yes, Customisation. The site is sticking to its British roots. I’m so proud…)New Discoveries and Inventions

● Undoubtedly the biggest discovery this year was the underground world of Moltara, a strange place filled with Neopets of above-average technical ingenuity, as well as with a fair amount of lava. Drop by and visit the caverns or the Cog’s Togs clothing shop (guaranteed 100% more buckles and buttons than you expected). You can also try to get your pet painted Magma at the lava pool, but don’t hold your breath– it’s a random small chance that you’ll be able to get through. Keep trying if you’re persistent.

● This year, the mystery behind the coveted Chef Bonju Avatar was finally solved after a few hints from TNT. To unlock it, you must have the “Mad about Orange” avatar active, and mix the items Blumaroo Steak, Orange Juice and Gourmet Cooking for your Pet at the Mystery Island cooking pot (NB: not Bonju’s cooking vessel). However, this avatar is only unlockable during the Month of Hiding.Major Events

● The fourth annual Altador Cup ended with a win for the ever enthusiastic Team Krawk Island. The prizes for this year’s tournament were seen by many as being a little lacklustre compared to previous years.

● The Atlas of the Ancients adventure, a primarily Flash-game based challenge with its own storyline, saw Roxton Colchester III and his newest companions, Clara Chatham and Jordie, set off on an epic quest to save the world from an unknown danger with the help of an old mapbook, which eventually led them to the underground world of Moltara. While Roxton fans were glad to see him back, many players found the dependence on Flash gaming a bit of a disappointment.

Year 10

● After almost exactly a year of downtime, the Neopian Pound was reopened this year, with a few new policies: pets’ clothes are now taken away from them when they enter the Pound; transfers to a specific owner should now be carried out using the Transfer Hissi, which is risk-free but can only be done once a month; and most controversially of all, users are now permitted to trade their Neopets if they want. Trades must be a single pet for a single pet, with no other factors (such as Petpets) being used to bypass this balance. Meanwhile, a new Neoboard was created for people to discuss adoption and pet trading.

● Players are now allowed to enter the Beauty Contest from any of their accounts, rather than from their main as was previously the case. However, you still may only advertise from the account the pet in question lives on, so no using your main to promote your side account pets even if it’s better known.Revamps

● TNT introduced a spin-off game, Petpet Park, this year. This Flash-heavy website was a little like Neopets, but a much simpler and more colourful game apparently aimed at a younger target audience. Players would adopt a single Petpet which they could feed, groom, accessorise, and help to complete quests. While it’s no longer available, this game gave plenty of players fond memories.Major Events

● Dr. Sloth tried to invade again in this year, beginning with Virtupets and Kreludor. However, a brave group of Neopets (including Gorix and Cylara, previous stars of a few Flash games) and some puzzle-solving Neopians managed to fend him off, and trap him inside a token. Neopia is safe again… for now.

● With Petpet Park on TNT’s minds, news that the Park might have problems due to missing Petpets was quite a concern. An ace team of Neopets from the Petpet Protection League set out to rescue the Petpets, and managed to secure them all before the launch date. Phew!

Year 9

● From Year Nine, Neopets are now allowed to wear clothes other than those that come with a paintbrush. Clothes can still come from painting a pet, of course, but can also be bought around the site or claimed in return for donating Realworld money (see below). A painted pet wearing the clothes that come with a different colour of paintbrush is known as “cross-painted”. Be aware– not all clothes will go with the pet when s/he is transferred (and none when s/he is disowned– see above under Year 10’s Policy Decisions).Revamps

● In the largest-scale redraw operation in Neopia’s history, every single species and colour of pet in existence was at least tweaked and at most completely overhauled. Because TNT realised the revamps came as a shock to those with certain unusually coloured pets, they allowed those owners to choose for themselves when to join the new revamp, by clicking a button in Quick Ref. Two years later, a fair few of them still haven’t. Pets whose owners still have yet to make the switch are called UC, short for “unconverted”.

● This year also saw a reworking of the site’s structure, with a menu-style bar replacing the old side panel, a Quick Ref pane being installed on the side so users can always see their active Neopets, and a change to the way event notifications were handled.New Discoveries and Inventions

● Those who wish to donate Realworld money to Neopets without the monthly commitment of Premium can now not only do just that, but choose from a variety of attractive virtual trinkets in exchange at the NC Mall, a special shop that doesn’t accept Neopoints. Instead, players sending money will be given a certain amount of “NC tokens” in exchange, which they can then use in the shop. The items bought from the NC Mall can be worn by a pet or displayed in a gallery, but they aren’t “real” items– they can’t be sold, traded, donated, discarded or sent to side accounts. If you don’t have the money to get NC, you can try to win some in the free Qasalan Expellibox Game, which can be played once a day. Be warned, it can also make your pet sick!

● A meteor crash-landed on Kreludor this year. If you feel like poking the giant lump of rock with a stick, some nice surprises could be in store.Major Events

● Gorgeously dashing, suave, debonair, smooth, intelligent, daring heartthrob… *ahem* …Lutari explorer Roxton Colchester III set out this year with companions Lilian Fairweather, Professor Hugo and Scrap to check out an unexplored area of the ocean. This Journey to the Lost Isle brought the intrepid group no end of perils and upsets, including the menacing attention of a Monstrous Moach. They escaped the island intact, but haven’t been back since, and many people think a return trip should be in order. The Isle still isn’t marked on the map of Neopia, and what it contains other than giant Moaches remains a mystery.

Year 8

● As of this year, news updates are now released several hours in advance. This was a welcome change, as the update time had been pushed back so far that most people were only finding out about a day’s events a few hours before they ended. News is now released on weekday evenings, with Friday’s updates covering the weekend.

● You can now add a P.I.N.(Protection in Neopia) code to several important areas of your account. That way, even if your account gets compromised, nobody can steal your pets or Neopoints!

● The limit on bank deposits was removed this year. Rich Neopians or those transferring money to a new main account are no longer limited to depositing a million NP at a time.Revamps

● This year, the view of Neopia on the Explore page was changed from a simple map to a globe! Believe it or not, some Neopians were surprised to discover that their planet had more than one side. You can now spin the globe to your heart’s content and study the countries on every side of it.

● A new filter was installed for petpages and pet descriptions this year. Many people were having problems with badly formed code, so the new filter (unlike the Neoboard filters, sadly) actually tries to point out any mistakes or disallowed words it spots in petpage code. Great if you’re sick of seeing error messages!

New Discoveries and Inventions

● This was the first year when the Altador mini-plot was open to the public. Unlike a normal plot, this activity has never been closed, and players can go through the steps in their own time. Be sure to visit the Archives for your share of puzzles, mysteries and the triumphant return of the Angry Yurble!

● A mysterious flying ship landed on Neopia’s coasts this year. The crew of the Cyodrake’s Gaze were having a bit of an altercation, but with it sorted out, they were free to return to their homeland of Shenkuu, home of a fascinating moon-centric culture, a royal family not composed of Skeiths for once, interesting food items and Neopia’s tallest and skinniest Neopets.

● In the spring of this year, a new pet species was discovered: the Lutari. These furry creatures are equally happy on land or in the water. Unfortunately, since they cannot be transferred or disowned in any way and there are no morphing potions at present, they have eclipsed the Draik and Krawk as Neopia’s hardest-to-obtain pet. The only way to get a Lutari of your very own is to zap one at the lab, or hope with all your fingers crossed that TNT decide to release a batch on Lutari Day. This was the second new species to be officially announced in Year 8: at the very start of the year, the Gnorbu (pronounced with a silent G) was introduced. These are not Limited Edition, so anyone can own one.Major Events

● Lovers of all things spooky, gothic and bittersweet, as well as avid puzzle-solvers, got a real treat this year. Gilly the Usul, best known for starring in The Castle of Eliv Thade, helped the tiny village of Neovia to overcome its terrible curse by investigating its Tale of Woe. This site event is widely ranked alongside the Lost Desert Plot as one of the best ever to happen on the site, thanks to its variety of challenges and engaging story.

● Year 8 saw the first annual Altador Cup tournament, in which players participate in a special Flash game, Yooyuball, which is completely unavailable during the rest of the year! You can pick your favourite Neopian land and play for its team, whether it’s Tyrannia, Kiko Lake or Krawk Island.

● It’s been quite the year for Flash gamers! This year also saw the introduction of the Gamesmaster’s Challenge, a Flash game competition that proved so popular it’s been brought back every year since. Players try to complete challenges set by the so-called Gamesmaster, Aristotle A. Avinroo (commonly known as AAA, which also sounds conveniently like “aaagh” for those times when you just can’t manage the challenge…) There are trophies and prizes for those who succeed.

Year 7

● Moderators now have the power to suspend accounts for offences that don’t merit a freezing (this time). Sussed accounts are locked for a predetermined period of hours or days, after which the owner can log in normally.

● As of this year, Neopets is now part of the Viacom Network. No, this doesn’t mean that TNT have all got the sack or that there’s going to be a Neopets channel on MTV. It does mean that the financial and marketing side of running the site is now handled by members of Viacom’s wider team, but the day-to-day content, new art and site events are still the responsibility of the Neopets Team we know and love.Revamps

● A Neopets Toolbar add-on is now available for your browser. Not to be confused with sponsor toolbars which were available in the past, this toolbar provides easy access to Neomail, Premie Webmail, a list of dailies and occasional free giveaways. It works in IE and some versions of Firefox. Download it at http://www.toolbar.neopets.com if you want to try it out.

● A Petpet Laboratory is now open! This miniature version of the Secret Lab is only open to those who have already put together the Secret Laboratory Map. WARNING: The Petpet Lab is known to occasionally cause Petpets to vanish, and even five years later nobody has figured out where they go and there is no way to get them back. Use the ray at your own risk!

● Feeling stressed? Why not go fishing? Pets can catch a variety of fish, books, toys, gardening items, odd potions and just plain junk. Click here for a guide to prizes.

● If Mystery Island just wasn’t mysterious enough for you, you can now visit the Lost City of Geraptiku tucked away in a corner of the isle. This dark place is mysteriously deserted. Wonder why all the inhabitants ran away?Major Events

● Thought dead for several years, the ancient underwater city of Maraqua was revealed to be alive and well this year when the intrepid Usul Garin stopped by for a visit and ended up in the middle of a battle with a pirate crew! The revived city is home to Neopia’s hottest destination, Kelp Restaurant. If you’re lucky enough to smuggle some leftovers out of this upmarket venue, you could get an avatar.

● Often argued to be the greatest puzzle plot ever, the Lost Desert Plot kicked off this year. Sakhmet City vanished from the desert after a cursed prince laid a spell on the entire place, and it was up to the plucky children Nabile and Tomos, and intelligent, determined and patient Neopians everywhere, to restore order. This plot marked the first appearance of the famous Angry Yurble, a nameless orange figure curiously beloved to plot-solvers everywhere, and is thought to be the origin of the fandom term “Obsessive Latest Darn’ Plot Disorder” (OLDPD). It’s remembered fondly to this day.

Plots & Site Events
	Neopets was acquired by Jumpstart (previously, had been owned by Nickelodeon for 9 years!)
	Oh no! Site Events started acting a tad bit wonky this year, before disappearing completely. This was followed by some strange random events appearing with garbled text… this was related to a strange portal in Moltara opening which took you to Space – Aboard the Coincidence, where you meet Dr. Landelbrot. He asked for Neopian’s help with building three different components to fix his machine – a Random Events machine. Once this was completed, a new daily event, which is quest-based, was released – The Coincidence!
	Congrats to Haunted Woods for cinching the title of AC Champions this year! Second place was Virtupets, followed by Moltara in third!
	Trouble in Sakhmet! All of the main Neopian rulers were invited to the palace by Princess Amira and items were stolen from each guest! In a game similar to clue, you had to solve riddles to figure out who stole their items, filling out a chart. Desert Diplomacy then allowed users to solve a final riddle to win prizes!
	This was the year of the NeoApocalypse. On September 17th the site went down to transition to Jumpstart’s servers. This was quite a disaster, as the site returned on September 19th for access but many parts of the site were non-functional. Accounts were locked for too many attempts at accessing, users were unable to purchase items from others shops (resulting in the great deflation event of 2014 – codestones were listed for as little as 1NP!), auctions were stuck, and items were duplicated and distributed resulting in the icing of many accounts. Small hiccups would continue to occur until early 2015.

Site Updates
	The Ruki became a limited edition species – Ruki day is July 29th so start planning ahead if you don’t want to buy a morphing potion!
	The LOUDEST (no seriously, mute your computer) new daily was released – Kiko Pop. This daily allows you to throw darts at balloons in an attempt to win prizes.
	Tons of new emoticons were released for use on the boards – ummagine, cloud, rain cloud, bottled sand, battle duck, dark battle duck, shop wizard, magic lamp, cupcake, book, chocolate ice cream, rose, heart, and popcorn
	Sadly, with the server transfer of 2014, Habitarium was permanently lost. This popular way to earn quick neopoints will not be returning. Professor Clodbottle does have some rewards you can claim if you previously participated in Habitarium here.
	Though the homepage of Petpet Park may look active, this was also lost with the transfer to Jumpstart. The only features still active are two games – Catch the Petpet and Petpet Pair Up.
	Keyquest was also lost to the server migration of 2014; while there were initial plans to make a return, ultimately it was decided that this site feature would not be returning.
	Neopets added a coat-hanger icon to the left corner of objects that are wearable, making it much easier to figure out what you can dress your pet up with!
	Mystery Capsules got upgraded with an all-new look and new function – now you can get items specific ONLY to the theme of the capsule!
	On Sept 20th Neopets said goodbye to one of its most beloved staff members – Snarkie. Snarkie originally joined TNT in 2002 and was one of the most interactive and adored staff members on TNT!
	The Random Contest was permanently closed.
	The trading post maximum bid was raised to 2 million and the auction maximum bid was raised to 50 million!!!
	Restockers everywhere celebrated the shop stock update – now shops “clear” items occasionally, so that old stock is not an issue, allowing more expensive items to restock more frequently!

Neopets Releases
	An almost-release counts right? There was brief discussion of the development of a Neopets app prior to the acquisition of Neopets by Jumpstart. Sadly, this never came to fruition.
	The pound was ‘closed’ for April Fools this year – but don’t fret, the Pound was kind enough to hand out actual pounded pets through random events to helpful Neopians! As the day went on, more pets were added to each account, bypassing the max number of pets! At the end of the day however, the pound was re-opened, and the pets were returned to the pound for your browsing pleasures
